Question

Why are toxins stored in vacuoles?

Open in App
Solution

Vacuoles:

  1. Vacuoles are the single membrane-bound structure found in the cytoplasm of the cells.
  2. They occupy 90% of the cell space in plants and store water, minerals, etc.
  3. In Amoeba, vacuoles store food and are called food vacuoles.
  4. To clear the extracellular fluid from toxins, vacuoles stores the toxin and protect the organisms from harm.
  5. Toxins enter the vacuoles present inside the cell, for their conversion into a much safer compound for easy disposal.
