  2. Type 2 restriction enzymes are used for many molecular biology functions such as gene cloning and DNA fragmentation and analysis.
  3. These enzymes cut the DNA at fixed positions with respect to their recognition sequence.
  4. Thus, it is often used for the cloning process.
