Why asexual reproduction is not ideal for evolution?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student, Low genetic variation is seen in asexual reproduction unlike sexual reproduction as asexually reproducing organisms produce identical copies of themselves, they pass on the maximum quantity of their own genetic material to each offspring. This kind of reproduction is typically very rapid and commonly seen in single celled organisms . The offspring is called a clone. The minimum variation that is seen is necessary for the survival are produced and to adapt to varied situations. Regards
