Question

why blood pressure is high in arteries and low in veins

Open in App
Solution

Arteries carry blood away from the heart to different parts of the body whereas veins carry blood towards the heart. Arteries have to pump the blood to large distances so the pressure should be high so that blood reaches to every part of the body. But veins have opposite functions, that is, it transport the blood from different organs to the heart so pressure requirement is low.
