Question

Why bulb is filled with inert gases ?

Open in App
Solution

The element of a bulb is heated to high temperature as this is what causes the light. This high heat increases chemical reactions. If the bulb were left full of air, the element would quickly react with oxygen in the air (oxidize) and burn out. Inert (Nobel gases) are used instead of air because they do not readily react and so the element remains intact for longer.
