In liquids, the intermolecular force of attraction is less, so the particles in a liquid can flow in a direction.
But in solid, the intermolecular force of attraction is very strong, so the particles are not free to flow, but are packed together.
So, solids can be heaped without losing their shapes, while liquids can flow.
