Friction is a property which is not always desired in many applications. Indeed, if friction did not exist then the majority of life would go on as normal.
Anything which operated on the principles of friction would need to be revised so it could impact society but basic needs would still be met.
Aeroplanes would still fly, cars would still move, agriculture would still progress, etc. Yes, stopping a car would need to be addressed, but the fuel efficiency would improve!
There would be some differences, for example ball point pens would cease to work. Fountain pens would still work. Pencils would not work.
For us, we would need to devise new methods of washing, design clothes differently, adapt how spectacles are held in place. The make-up industry would probably go out of business.
None of these would prevent us from living a good life. It would just be different.
Loss of friction would have a lot less effect than, say, loss of gravity or magnetism.
