Question

why cannot transistor act as a rectifier

Open in App
Solution

  • A diode has two different layers P and N type on either sides so that it will conduct in only one direction. Hence, it is used as rectifier.
  • But, in the case of a transistor, both extreme layers are similar type, either P or N, so that it is not possible to conduct in only one direction. So, the transistor cannot be used as a rectifier.
