Why cannot we harness the electricity from lightning, using many step down transformers?

Hi,

We can generate electricity from lightning by storing the light energy into photoelectric cell. Photovoltaic cell, is an electrical device that converts the energy of light directly into electricity by the photovoltaic effect which is a physical and chemical phenomenon. Thus, there is no use of many step down transformers in this process.
