Question

WHY CANT ALL CELLS BE RECHARGED?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

In some cells
the electrochemical reactions that occur at the electrodes are irreversible and hence these cannot be recharged. Some chemical reactions can be reversed multiple times. Those are used in rechargables. Other chemical reactions, however, cannot be reversed, and once they've reacted, you won't get any more out of it.
