Why cant we write Acetic Acid, CH3OOH as 'CH3O2H' ?

Dear Student,

Assuming CH₃O₂H as CH₃CO₂H

CH₃COOH is the structural formula of acetic acid. You can write acetic acid as CH₃CO₂H also but since it is an acid, and the acid has functional group as -COOH therefore, it s better to represent it as CH₃COOH.
