Solution:
The cells are called as structural and functional units of a living body. Cells are structural unit as they form the structure of the organism. Cells combine to form tissues, which further combine to form organs, organs combine to form organic systems, which further combine to form organism. So, cell is the basic structural unit for all unicellular and multicellular organisms.

Some of the basic life processes or functions takes place in every cell to keep the organisms alive such as digestion, respiration, excretion, etc., whether it is a single-celled organism or multicellular organism. So, the cells are also called the functional unit of life owing to these processes.

Cell is called as structural and functional unit of life.

Cell is the smallest part of body, due to aggregation of cells tissue is formed, and due to aggregation of tissue organ is formed and thus organ system is formed.

So we can see how a smallest part of body forms a huge living bodies like whale.

This is reason that why cell is called as structural unit of life.

Moving to next point, maximum chemical reactions occur in cell( some occur outside too).Cell contains about 5000 chemicals, which are necessary for us.Metabolism is maintained by cell because the bredkdown of glucose into carbon dioxide and water occur in cell. Moreover cell contains genetic material(DNA).Thus it functions as a site of genetic recombination and chemical reaction.
