Question

why Chlorophyll usually show red fluorescence though they absorb blue radiations as well ??

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
Chlorophyll shows fluorescence by absorbing a lower wavelength and emitting a higher wavelength of light because during this phenomenon of absorption and emission some energy is lost and the wavelength being emitted becomes longer. Chlorophyll absorbs blue radiation which has the wavelength of approximately 400 nm but shows red fluorescence which has the wavelength of approximately 700 nm.
