Question

Why connecting wires are made from Copper?

Open in App
Solution

Connecting Wires:

  • A connecting wire allows travels the electric current from one point to another point without resistivity.
  • Resistance of connecting wire should always be near zero.
  • Copper wires have low resistance and are therefore suitable for low resistance.

Copper characteristics:

  • Copper is metal, so it follows all characteristics of metals like- sonorous, ductility, malleability, and conductivity.
  • Due to the excellent electrical conductivity of copper, it has a good contact surface, is ductile, and is inexpensive.
  • The wires of this reddish metal could carry a higher electric current in each diameter than wires manufactured of other metals.
  • Whenever electric current flows across these wires, they drain less electric charges than that of other lines.
  • Hence, Copper is mostly used in connecting wires.
