Question

Why copper and Aluminium are used to make wires?

Open in App
Solution

Copper and aluminium wires are generally used for electricity transmission as they have low resistivity. Low resistivity decreases the resistance and hence increases the amount of current in the circuit. Therefore, they are good conductors of electricity. Silver has the least resistivity but is still, rarely used due to its high cost. Copper and aluminium are relatively cheap and easily accessible.
