Why copper and aluminum are used over tungsten, iron, nickel to make fuses?
They have low melting point
Low melting point materials are used in fuses because as large currents pass through the circuit they will generate heat that is enough to melt fuse and break the circuit, saving the appliances. Copper and aluminium have a low melting point, compared to iron and nickel and hence it is prefered in the manufacturing of fuses.
