Question

Why couldn't bohr's model explain stability of atoms to form molecules by chemical bonds?

Open in App
Solution

Bohr’s model was applicable to single electron species like hydrogen atom and it could not applicable to elements like helium and lithium and the higher elements containing more than one electron.
It is quite impossible to form chemical bonds with single electron. Hence Bohr's model could not explain the formation of molecules through chemical bonding.
Since Bohr's model could not explain the formation of molecules. Hence, it could not explain the shapes or geometries of molecules.
