Edla was a generous and compassionate girl. She couldn’t see a poor man suffer, especially during the Christmas season. She had planned to help the poor man feel “homelike and Christmassy” on that day and she couldn’t let that idea go away all of a sudden. So, she requested her father not to send the vagabond away.
