Why did Fernman display a skeleton during his presentation?

Each class would report, through its representatives, on the studies pursued during the half year which began after Easter, a representative having been chosen for each subject. Fernman was the representative for Physiology. He uses a skeleton for his presentation on the subject to demonstrate that all people were same at the basic level- "the trimmings might be different but the foundations were all laid out according to the same blueprint".
