Why can our elbow not move backward?

Open in App
Solution

Hinge joint:

  1. It is a form of joint that allows bones to move back and forth in one direction with some restricted motion in other planes, much like the hinge on a door.
  2. Because the elbow is a hinge joint, it cannot move backward.
  3. The articular surfaces of a hinge joint are moulded to one other in such a way that only one plane of motion is allowed.
