People from distant land visited Surat because it served as an important mediaeval port on the west coast of Indian sub continent.It was a gateway of trade during the Mughal period. It was also known as the gate for Mecca as many pilgrims take their ships to Mecca from here. Surat was also famous for textiles and there were many cotton textile shops which attracted people.

People visited Hampi because it was a capital city and a centre for commercial and cultural activities. It was a centre of trading which attracted many traders from far away land who use to buy and sell goods here. It was a famous temple town surrounded by beautiful temples with magnificent architecture which attracted tourists from faraway lands.
