Why did Rhayader live alone?

Rhayader lived alone as he had withdrawn from the human society. He could not find anybody who loved him and could not master the rebuff of the society, as his back was hunched and he had a deformed, twisted hand. This made him look ugly in the eyes of the people as deformity often makes them hate humanity.
