During his war with the Siddhi army, Aurangzeb ascended the Mughal throne and ordered Shaista Khan, a Sardar to invade Pune. This invasion continued alongside his battle with Siddhi Jauhar. This made Shivaji realise it was unwise to be at war with two different enemies and formed a treaty with the Adilshahis.
