Swami gave a colourful account of Mr. Samuel to his father in the hope that his father would be able to see that he could not go to his class late so he told his father that Mr. Samuel was a violent man and did not stop caning till he saw blood on the boy's hand and then made the boy press his blood-stained hand to his forehead like a vermillion marking.
