Solution

Reducing atmosphere:

  1. With the beginning of the cooling of the earth, stable bonds started to form between the atoms that resulted in the formation of molecules.
  2. This was the start of the chemical history of the earth which has finally resulted in the present-day life and atmosphere.
  3. Hydrogen is active and abundant and readily combines with other atoms forming simple compounds such as ammonia, methane, molecular hydrogen, hydrogen cyanide, water vapors, and carbon dioxide.
  4. All the oxygen, which was there in the atmosphere was present in combination with other elements.
  5. Early atmosphere of the earth was a reducing atmosphere because there was no free molecular oxygen then.
