Why did the English East India Company start becoming bankrupt by the beginning of the 19th century?

English East India Company was active politically, wherein they were require to take care of administration. But they failed in doing so. Instead after administration, the Company officials used their power to make gain from personal trade, pushing the company towards Bankruptcy.
