The Portuguese were the first European power to arrive in India
The Portuguese started expanding their trade and established various trading centres in the next hundred years
But when they expanded their trade in Bengal, The Subedar of Bengal complained to Shah Jahan about the unfair activities of the Portuguese.
So Shah Jahan ordered the demolition of the Hugli port as well as destruction of Portuguese ships
The event ended the influence of Portuguese power in India
