Why didn't we are directly able to absorb energy from sunlight or any other source why our body need to perform different functions like ingestion , digestion , absorption , assimilation etc.?

because we dont have pigment for absorbing sunlight we get energy from food.for the photosynthesis process there should be such cell.but we dont have chlorophyll or other type of photosynthetic organs.
