Why different sounds are produced by glasses with different water levels of jaltarang?

The bowls of jai tarang musical instruments are filled uneven so that different soothing music can be produced.
The bowl having more water will produce high pitch sound because in the respective bowl there is least amount of air whereas the bowl having less amount of water will produce low pitch of sound as there is more air filled into thal bowl.
The characterstic of sound which is used to determine the pitch of sound is called frequency.Higher the frequency greater will be the pitch of sound and vice versa.
PItch-The sensation of a frequency is commonly referred to as the pitch of soound.
