Question

Why diffusion is random intermixing

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student, diffusion is the movement of atoms or molecules from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration. The process of diffusion results from the random motion of particles. If the particles were stationary, that is, at rest, then diffusion would not be possible. Random motion means, movement of particles that possess kinetic energy, and thus move in different directions.
