Why do alkanes burns with blue or clear flames?

The saturated hydrocarbon (alkanes) generally burn in air with a blue non Sooty (clean) flame . this is because the percentage of carbon in the saturated hydrocarbon is comparatively low which gets oxidised completely by 0xygen present in air .
