Why do aquatic organism need large amount of water as compared to terrestial organisms?

aquatic animals respiration process is by dissolved oxygen in water.while terrestrial animals get oxygen in the air for respiration.so aquatic animals need large amount of water so as to get oxygen. Fishes take in water through their mouths and force it past the gills where the dissolved oxygen is taken up by blood.
