Question

Why do bugs land on humans?

Open in App
Solution

Bugs land on humans because:

  1. Some insects such as mosquitoes (females) need blood to lay eggs.
  2. They detect humans by "smelling" the carbon dioxide we emit.
  3. They are attracted to carbon dioxide which is exhaled by human breath.
  4. They can also detect us with special receptors that can detect our body heat.
  5. They are attracted to body heat and sweat.
  6. Similarly, many other insects are attracted to humans for similar reasons.
