Causes of conflicts in a democratic country:
Conflicts arise when individuals from various cultures, faiths, regions, or socio-economic backgrounds cannot get along with one another or when one group feels discriminated against. This results in tensions and violence.
Example of the conflict:
Sharing river water between states can sometimes lead to conflict.
For instance, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka conflict over the Cauvery River.
Two dams built on this river—the Mettur dam in Tamil Nadu and the Krishnasagar dam in Karnataka—have been a matter of dispute. Because these two dams are on the same river, a conflict has arisen because neither of the two states receives enough water to meet their needs.
