Diamond is a non metal. metal impart properties like ductility, malleability, electrical conductivity and luster due to the type of bonding that they have, known as metallic bonding. But diamond is a giant covalent solid (purely covalent bond) which doesn't show any of the above properties of metal other than brilliance and hardness, brilliance in diamond is actually due to reflection of light by layers of carbon atoms.
You will learn more about colavent bonding in higher classes.
