Melting point is decided by the strength of the bond. Strength of the bond is stronger means the heat energy needed to break the bond so as to make it fused is high. So its melting point is high. Similarly when the vapour pressure is equal to atmospheric pressure the liquid boils. In both the cases each liquid the strength of the bond varies, so the vapour pressure also varies. Thus each liquid posses different melting and boiling point.
For ex., the boiling point of water is 100 0C and boiling point of alcohol is 78 0C.
