Why do electricians wear rubber gloves, sandals/shoes while working on alive current?

2. While working with alive current, electricians wear rubber gloves, shoes/sandals to protect from an electrical shock because rubber is an insulator that does not allow the current to pass through it.

Hence, wearing rubber gloves, shoes/sandals will not allow the current to pass through his body to the earth.
