Why do grasses regrow after being cut off ?

Nodes are present on the grass near the ground level. When the upper portions of the grass is cut off a signal is send of to these nodes stimulating them to produce more leaf.
This is why grasses regrow after being cut off.
There are thousands of nodes in a plant.
