Why do herbivores have a longer small intestine than carnivores?

Herbivores eat plant and grass-based food that is rich in cellulose. Cellulose takes time to digest so these animals have a long small intestine. Carnivores consume meat that is easier to digest so these animals have a short small intestine as compared to herbivores.
