Question

Why do linked genes not follow the pattern of inheritance?

Open in App
Solution

The pattern of inheritance:

  1. Inheritance describes how genetic variation is distributed in the family.
  2. Depending on the type of inheritance, one or both alleles of the gene can be affected.
  3. Linked groups are groups of genes, some of which have loci on the same chromosome
  4. They don’t independently segregate.
  5. Linked genes tend to be inherited together, so they don't follow normal Mendelian laws.
