Why do liquids flow and take the shape of the container they are kept in?
Liquids flow and take the shape of the container they are kept in because in the case of liquids-
(1) The molecules are not very closely packed. They do not attract each other as strongly as the molecules of solid. Thus, the intermolecular spaces are larger and the molecules are able to move about more freely.
(2) This makes a liquid flow and takes the shape of the container into which it is poured.
