Question
Why do most of the coconut trees grow along the sea shores?
Open in App
Solution
Coconut trees have light weighted seeds that are adapted to float on water.
The outer covering of seeds are fibrous with air spaces that encloses the whole seed or fruit.
These features allow the entire coconut fruit to float on water and move from one place to another.
Upon reaching ground, it germinates and give rise to a seedling.
That’s why we usually find coconut trees growing near sea shores.
