Question

Why do mountaineers usually suffer from nose-bleeding at high altitudes?

Open in App
Solution

Air pressure goes on decreasing as we go higher up, so at high altitudes, the atmospheric pressure becomes less than the pressure exerted by the blood inside the body. This causes some of the blood vessels burst and the nose starts bleeding.
