Question

Why do muscles have to work in pairs to move the bones at a joint?

Solution

Muscles:

  1. Muscles are parts of the body that covers the skeleton framework and gives shape to the body.
  2. Muscles of the body function in pairs, when one muscle of the pair contracts, the bone is pulled in that direction while the other pair relaxes.
  3. When the muscle wants to come to its original position, the relaxed muscles contract to pull the bone back as a muscle can only pull but cannot push.
  4. Thus, both the pairs of muscles work in a coordinated manner.
