Why do plants have dead cells whereas as animals have living cells?

Plant cells and animal cells are both eukaryotic cells and are also similar to a large extent in terms of the cell organelles .

In plants dead cell get hardened with age and remain as part of the body whereas in animals dead cells are destroyed or digested and expelled from the body.
