Why do some plants (e.g. Coleus , croton , etc.) have leaves with non-green portion?

Dear Student
Plant leaves obtain different colours due to the presence of different types of pigments like carotinoids (orange, yellow), anthocyanin (purple) and also chlorophyll is also present but remain hidden among other pigment. Hence, these different pigments gives the leaves varied colours.
