Why do some plants show heterotrophic mode of nutrition?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Pitcher plant, venus flytrap, sundew plant, etc show both autotrophic and heterotrophic mode of nutrition. This is due to the fact that they grow in regions where the soil lacks nitrogen so they compensate the need for nitrogen by ingesting insects etc.
