Question

Why do the animals have certain useless organs (vestigial organs) in their body?

Solution

Vestigial organs:

  1. In a species, vestigial organs are organs that have lost some or all of their ancestral functions and shapes.
  2. Organs such as the appendix, earlobe, and wisdom tooth in humans have no function in humans.
  3. These organs may have served a purpose in ancestor animals, but not in modern ones.
  4. The idea of organic evolution can explain the existence of vestigial organs in animal bodies. As a result, these organs were fully formed, functional, and necessary in ancestral forms, but are gradually vanishing in living species as their modes of life change.
