Question

Why do the astronauts talk to each other through radio-telephone in space?

Open in App
Solution

Space has no air. Since sound waves require a material medium to propagate, therefore, astronauts cannot talk to each other in space. However, radio waves do not require any material medium for propagation and hence can be picked by the radio receiver.
