Solution
Deccan plateau is a large plateau in India
covering southern part of India.
It is located between Eastern and Western Ghats.
It is like a downward pointing triangle.
Eastern region of Western Ghats and east of Sahyadris
lie in the rain shadow region. Western Ghats are very tall that it blocks
moisture laden south-west winds to reach them and hence receives scanty
rainfall.
